Time’s glory is to calm contending kings, to unmask falsehood, and bring truth to light.

If you must look back, do so forgivingly. If you must look forward, do so prayerfully. However, the wisest thing you can do is be present in the present...gratefully.

The past is memory. The future is imagination. All that exists is now.

All that is important in this moment is movement. Make the movement vital and worth living. Do not let it slip away unnoticed and unused.

There is one thing stronger than all the armies in the world; and that is an idea whose time has come.

Until you value yourself, you won't value your time. Until you value your time, you won't do anything with it.

Follow your desire as long as you live and do not perform more than ordered; do not lessen the time following desire, for the wasting of time is an abomination to the spirit.

Early in life I have noticed that no event is ever correctly reported in a newspaper, but in Spain, for the first time, I saw newspaper reports which did not bear any relation to the facts, not even the relationship which is implied in an ordinary lie. I saw great battles reported where there had been no fighting, and complete silence where hundreds of men had been killed. I saw troops who had fought bravely denounced as cowards and traitors, and others who had never seen a shot fired hailed as heroes of imaginary victories; and I saw newspapers in London retailing these lies and eager intellectuals building emotional superstructures over events that never happened. I saw, in fact, history being written not in terms of what happened but of what ought to have happened according to various “party lines.”

We hang the petty thieves and appoint the great ones to public office.

And even a liar can be scared into telling the truth, same as honest man can be tortured into telling a life.

Falsehood has an infinity of combinations, but truth has only one mode of being.

Nothing can now be believed which is seen in the newspaper. Truth itself becomes suspicious by being put into that polluted vehicle.

If you compromise your own conscience, you will weaken your conscience. Soon your conscience will fail to guide you and you never will have real wealth based on peace of mind.

Re-examine all you have been told at school or church or in any book, dismiss whatever insults your own soul; and your very flesh shall be a great poem, and have the richest fluency, not only in its words, but in the silent lines of its lips and face, and between the lashes of your eyes, and in every motion and joint of your body.
